How being DECISIVE leads to bigger, faster results
When it comes to running an online business, there’s no doubt that we have a LOT of information coming at us at all times, right?
You’re constantly inundated with other coaches and service providers sharing their content and opinions on what works and what doesn’t, new strategies and tactics are being thrown around in new webinars everywhere you look, and before you know it, it starts feeling REALLY hard to tune out the noise and stay in your own lane.
That’s why being decisive, and sticking with the decisions that you make once you’ve made them is absolutely imperative if you want to be successful in your online business.
Otherwise? You’ll be stuck in an endless loop of comparisonitis, jumping from shiny object to shiny object, and constantly second-guessing yourself.
THAT is definitely not CEO behavior, and won’t get you to the results you’re looking for.
You have to get yourself OUT of that cycle of analysis paralysis, learn how to make decisions quickly and confidently, and most importantly, how to STICK with those decisions long enough to see results.
But HOW?! Thought you’d never ask ;)
Get over your fear of failure.
Remind yourself that failure is NECESSARY to get where you want to go. Even if you try and fail, you’ll be 100% closer to the outcome you want than if you didn’t do anything at all. You will either succeed or you will survive, and either way, you’ll learn incredibly valuable information that will get you one step closer to your goals.
A really valuable way to get over any type of fear is to play it out. What are you afraid of? What is the absolute, worst-case scenario? Nine times out of 10, it’s not nearly as big of a deal as you’re making it in your mind. Write it out in your journal and really shine a light on those big scary fears with your logical mind, and it won’t be long until you’re sitting there on the other side wondering what the heck you were ever so afraid of in the first place.
Give it time.
When it comes to strategic decisions for your business, you have to give it enough time to be able to truly evaluate whether or not it was effective before you make any other changes. Whether it’s hiring a new team member or trying a new strategy, I recommend picking out a ‘revisit date’ 60 to 90 days from now, and until that date, putting all of your time, effort, and energy into seeing your decision through. This allows you to put it out of your mind and take the pressure off because you know you have a date set aside where you can re-evaluate and make a change if need be.
It ALSO (and this is the important part) allows you to really give it your all, and pour all of your focus into making the decision WORK rather than splitting your energy and constantly going back and forth, wondering if you made the right choice or if you should try something else.
Which leads me to...
Stop negotiating with yourself and align with the decision you made.
To decide quite literally means ‘to cut off,’ so once you’ve made your decision, I want you to put all of your energy into aligning with it. When you feel yourself starting to doubt or second-guess yourself, I want you to stop, and– either mentally or with pen and paper– run through ALL the reasons why the decision you made is RIGHT.
You might need to do this 20 times per day, and if that’s the case, so be it. You’ll save SO much time, money, and energy once you stop living in constant conflict with yourself (been there), and the more you practice this skill and become confident and empowered in your choices, the easier EVERYTHING in your business (and life!) is going to be.
